End-of-Summer Riverside Picnic at Carrier Park — West Asheville
Saturday, September 5, 2026
10:00 PM UTC – 1:00 AM UTC
Hosted by Asheville Transplants
About this event
Send off summer with a laid-back picnic by the river.
Carrier Park is a wide, riverside green space along the French Broad in West Asheville — flat walking paths, big lawns, picnic shelters, and river overlooks. We'll spread out some blankets, share snacks, and enjoy a relaxed evening before the season turns. Bring whatever you'd like to eat and drink.
The Plan:
• 6:00 PM — Meet at Carrier Park (220 Amboy Rd). Look for the Asheville Transplants group near the picnic shelter by the main lot.
• 6:15 PM — Set up blankets, share snacks, and settle in. Bring a lawn game if you have one.
• 7:00 PM — Optional easy stroll along the riverside path for anyone who wants to walk and talk.
• 7:45 PM — Catch the light on the river before the park closes at dusk.
What to Know:
• The park is free and open dawn to dusk, with restrooms and free parking on-site.
• Bring your own food and drinks, plus a blanket or camp chair. It's a potluck-style vibe if you want to share.
• Family- and dog-friendly (leashed). Comfortable shoes for the paths.
Why This Event:
A simple, no-cover way to wrap up the summer with good company on the river. Perfect for newcomers and solo first-timers — pull up a patch of grass and say hi. • Non-alcoholic options are available — feel free to grab a soda or not drink anything at all. No pressure either way.
