Lower Crater Lakes - 6.5 miles and 1,400 feet EG

Let's hike to the lower Crater Lakes via South Boulder Creek and Crater Lakes trail. This is a mostly wooded trail with some steep and rocky terrain just below the lower lakes. Please bring layers, sun protection, water, a snack/lunch and poles if you find them helpful. Be prepared for weather changes!

We will meet at the East Portal trailhead near the entrance to the Moffat tunnel about 8 miles west of Rollinsville. The road from Rollinsville to the trailhead is unpaved. Last time the road was pretty bumpy but no 4WD was needed. Please carpool if possible. There are restrooms at the trailhead.
