About this event

Small Business Analytics

How does a business make money? Really? Join us for coffee and a different kind of morning conversation during Asheville Entrepreneurship Week. Dr. Amanda Bell of Thrive Strategy Lab will take us inside the numbers behind a small business and show us what they can tell us about how the business actually works. In about 45 minutes, we’ll look at real numbers from real books, read out loud. Think reading tea leaves, except it’s math.

What we’ll figure out

What the business really earns Not just the number that goes to the bank.

The one thing the business sells that everything hangs on An hour, a job, a ride, a table, a box. Every business has a fundamental unit that drives the economics behind it.

The cost that quietly eats the profit The expense that shows up every month, often for years, and can make all the difference. This isn’t an accounting class, a pitch session, or traditional business networking. It’s an approachable conversation about understanding the mechanics behind a business and a chance to learn alongside other curious people in Asheville.

Come if you love this stuff. Come especially if you don’t. No accounting or analytics background is required. This session is designed for business owners, entrepreneurs, people considering buying a business, advisors, remote workers, and anyone who’s simply curious about how businesses actually work.
