Let’s Bike the Boulder Reservoir and Open Sky Gravel Loop

Let’s ride the Boulder Reservoir and Open Sky Loop, a scenic 33-mile mixed-surface route through the countryside north of Boulder. The route includes approximately 1,050 feet of elevation gain and is about 80% gravel and 20% pavement. We’ll ride a combination of crushed-gravel paths, dirt roads, trails, and doubletrack while enjoying views of Boulder Reservoir, the Front Range, farms, and open countryside. The gravel is generally smooth and nontechnical, but you should be comfortable riding approximately 33 miles. We’ll start and finish near Avery Brewing Company, where anyone interested can get food or a drink after the ride.

⏰ DATE AND START TIME We plan to start riding at 10:00 AM, but the date and start time are subject to change.

🚲 RECOMMENDED BIKE A gravel bike is recommended. A mountain bike will also work, but road bikes with narrow tires are not suitable for this route. ⛑️ REQUIRED GEAR A helmet is required. Please also bring:

• Plenty of water
• Snacks or nutrition
• Sunscreen
• A spare tube or tubeless repair kit
• Any tools or supplies you may need during the ride
