About this event
2026-2027 Emory Dance Free, No Tickets Required
Join us for a conversation with Alpert Award winning choreographer and performer Jeanine Durning, along with the dancers Miguel Alejandro Castille, Sarah Konner, and Erin Kouwe, whose work, The Play, will be presented by the Dance Program October 23-24. Durning and the dancers will discuss “nonstopping,” her revolutionary improvisational system utilized in The Play. They will also discuss how this performance project shifts the dance company paradigm away from a top-down model with choreographers hiring dancers to a system in which the dancers have agency as initiators and collaborators. A post-show discussion will follow the October 23 performance.
Recommended parking for Schwartz Center events is the Fishburne Parking Deck (free for events after 6 p.m. and on weekends): https://schwartz.emory.edu/explore/visit/parking.html.
