About this event

Take Back The Ave, October 10 and 17, 11am to 8pm. University Way is getting a one-block, two-Saturday transformation: we're closing the street to cars and opening it up to people, with games, a giant chess board, live music, cafe seating, and the nearby farmers market running alongside it. Stop by for five minutes or stay all afternoon, there's room for both.

The Ave is one of Seattle's most vibrant corridors, but narrow sidewalks and scarce seating have always favored cars over the people who make it worth visiting. This pilot is our chance to prove a people-centered Ave benefits the neighborhood, its businesses, its residents, and its community, the same way Pike Place Market did once cars gave way to people. Volunteers are welcome, no experience needed, just show up ready to help set up, greet visitors, or gather feedback. Bring someone. Help us build something worth keeping.
