BOOK READING AND DISCUSSION WITH LAURIE NOTARO at Crescent Ballroom, Phoenix.

LAURIE NOTARO BOOK READING AND DISCUSSION, "I'VE GOT A NEW COMPLAINT" Ex-Phonecian Laurie Notaro is getting old. , "rdquo" -> I've Got a New Complaint" is a brutal look at Gen X on the other side of ripeness; just yesterday, she was at an Alice in Chains show and today she's getting ready to apply for Social Security. What the fuck happened? In a series of essays, Notaro explores the bruises of middle age, how office politics drove her to casting hexes, confronting a high school bully at her 40th high school reunion, attending a funeral that goes so awry she decides to create a run of show for her own, and after getting fired again at 60, ponders a retirement plan that includes a bank robbery. And then there's Old People Sex, which can result in hospitalization. Regardless of indignity or mishap, the #1 New York Times bestselling author finds agency with the sharp wit of a woman who refuses to go gently into that good night.
